Fresh Ponds for Farming and Underground Water Recharging
The ICA Impact Initiative, in a remarkable collaborative effort with Mukti Foundation and Agarwal Foundation, has successfully rejuvenated 250 ponds in the Sundarban region of West Bengal. This monumental project aimed at revitalizing local ecosystems and enhancing water availability for both agriculture and daily use by the community, has substantially benefited the biodiversity and livelihoods of the region. Additionally, ICA extends its water conservation efforts to Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, working alongside ABSSS Foundation. Here, the focus has been on implementing the Doha and Tank models of Fresh Water Pond, which are designed to optimize water retention and usage in arid areas. These initiatives are part of ICA's broader commitment to sustainable development and water resource management, ensuring that communities have the resources they need to thrive while maintaining ecological balance.
